The first session of the Georgia-China Bilateral Commission for road transport was hosted in Beijing to discuss development of the freight transportation sector, transit potential and infrastructure capabilities of the two countries, the Land Transport Agency of Georgia said on Monday.

The participants agreed to increase the quota for international road freight transportation, which they said would offer Georgia-registered carriers “improved opportunities” for transport operations to China, the Agency added.

The parties also explored potential establishment of logistics centres and expressed mutual readiness to work towards the objective.

The meeting emphasised the importance of bilateral cooperation, highlighting the significance of knowledge-sharing and collaboration in road transport and transit traffic between the two nations.
