The Special Purpose Marine Group from the Western Battalion of Georgia’s Special Operations Command, in collaboration with the Special Purpose Marine Group of the Romanian Armed Forces, conducted joint military exercises in the Black Sea, the Georgian Defence Ministry said on Friday.
The training followed a simulated scenario where servicemembers from the two countries carried out a boarding operation, the exercises also including actions for detecting explosive substances in the sea, safely relocating them and performing decontamination procedures.
Colonel Teimuraz Klateishvili, the Commander of the Special Operations Forces, praised the personnel for successfully completing the exercises.
The Ministry said the drills aimed to “strengthen compatibility and partnership” between the two commands.
