Bolnisi District Court in Georgia’s east sentences person for animal cruelty

The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia on Friday said the District Court of the eastern municipality of Bolnisi had sentenced an individual to one year and two months in prison for animal cruelty and violence after the individual’s treatment of a dog resulted in its death.

The Office said the evidence presented to the Court had established the accused had “severely beaten” the dog with a stick, with the incident taking place on December 6 of last year in a village of Marneuli Municipality.

Police officers arrested the offender earlier this year on charges of animal cruelty and violence following a video footage posted on social media.
