Inflation in Georgia, calculated using the European Union methodology, amounted to 3.1 percent in June, reflecting a 0.9 percent increase compared to the 2.2 percent inflation calculated by the national methodology, the National Statistics Office of Georgia said on Wednesday.

Inflation data using national methodology showed month-on-month prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by two percent. At the same time, prices increased for oils and fats (2.3 percent), fish (one percent), coffee, tea and cocoa (0.5 percent), milk, cheese and eggs (0.5 percent), the Office said.
The inflation data also showed the rise in prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (by 0.9 percent), along with increased costs for accommodations (by 3.8 percent) and catering services (by 0.8 percent).
The annual inflation rate was also influenced by price changes for transport (+11 percent), restaurants and hotels (+7.5 percent), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+3.4 percent), and food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.9 percent).
