Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration was discussed on Tuesday between the country’s Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Javier Colomina, the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, within the framework of the NATO 75th anniversary Summit in Washington, set to be held from Tuesday to Thursday.

The officials highlighted important topics to be addressed within the Summit, emphasising the participation of the Georgian delegation as “another confirmation” of the “successful process” of the country's integration into the Alliance, the Georgian foreign office said.

The parties also emphasised that Georgia, as an aspirant country of NATO, “has always been a reliable partner” of the Alliance and “has made a significant contribution” to strengthening Euro-Atlantic security.

The conversation also touched on the ongoing processes and the security environment in the Black Sea region, as well as Russia's war against Ukraine, adding that “strengthening” the security in the region would be a “guarantee of peace and stability” for the Euro-Atlantic space.

At the meeting, the officials agreed to continue active cooperation to achieve “common goals”.

The top Georgian diplomat will also participate in a meeting of foreign ministers, scheduled for Wednesday in the format of partner countries, the Georgian foreign office said on Monday.

Darchiashvili is also to attend other events planned within the Summit and hold bilateral meetings.
