The Georgian national football team on Wednesday advanced to the knockout round, as a best third-placed team, after defeating Portugal 2-0 in their final group stage match at the ongoing European Championship in Germany.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, a Georgian national team winger, scored in the second minute of the match his first goal at the Championship.
Georgia doubled its lead in the 57th minute on a penalty by Georges Mikautadze, after Luka Lochoshvili was tripped in the box.
The squad will face Spain in the knockout round of the competition.
