Public screenings of matches of the ongoing European Football Championship will be made available in all cities throughout Georgia with support of local authorities and state representatives, the Government Administration said on Tuesday.
The screening programme will include all three group stage matches of the Georgian national team, the body’s Department of Relations with Regions said.
Set to be shown on the big screen, the matches will be offered along with food spaces, music programmes and sports activities.
In capital Tbilisi, the fixtures will be screened at Mikheil Meskhi Stadium, with six large screens installed for the purpose and a food area set up outside the venue.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday highlighted the national team’s upcoming debut at the tournament against Turkey by saying the game marked “the day that Georgian football fans have been waiting for 30 years”.
The team will also play against the Czech Republic on June 22 and Portugal on June 26 in their Group F fixtures.
