Georgian PM thanks national team for first point at European Championship

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday thanked the country’s national football team, which secured its first point at the ongoing Euro 2024 as Georgia drew 1-1 in Group F in a match with Czechia in Hamburg on this day.

"First there was the Euro debut, [scoring] the first-ever goal in Euro [European Championship], today the first point in Euro, on the 26th [of June] it's time for the first win in Euro!!! 26 is our day!!! Thanks to the boys!!!", the Government Head noted. 

Last week, the PM also expressed his confidence that the national team’s players would “put their heart and soul into all three games” of the group stage.

In the final group stage games, Georgia will face Portugal next week in the Group F fixtures, while Czechia will take on Turkey.
