Tourists entering Georgia will be required to have health and accident insurance starting January 1, 2026, the Parliament said on Monday in its announcement of amendments to the domestic law on tourism.
Originally set to be implemented on June 1, 2024, the date has been pushed back.
Parliamentary majority, who initiated the amendment, said its introduction involved “multiple stages of preparation”.

Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Friday said the country had hosted 1.3 million international travellers in the first quarter of the year and received “record-high” revenues of over $800 million.
Maya Omiadze, the Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, on Wednesday congratulated domestic professionals of the industry with World Tourism Day by praising their role in establishing Georgia “firmly on the world map” as “one of the most popular and attractive” tourist destinations.
Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili on Monday said “positive dynamics” observed in the domestic tourism sector this year were “very important”, leading to the industry generating a "record amount" of $3.3 billion in income in nine months.
Thirty-eight countries of the Commission for Europe of the United Nations’ World Tourism Organisation have chosen Georgia as the host country for next year’s World Tourism Day, with the selection made at their 68th meeting on Thursday in Sofia, Bulgaria. Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili praised the news as “another great recognition of our country”.
