Irakli Kadagishvili, the Chair of the Rules and Procedural Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, on Friday said the ruling Georgian Dream party would override President Salome Zourabichvili’s veto on amendments to the election code related to Central Election Commission decisions.

The amendments, approved by the Parliament, stipulate reduction of the quorum for decisions of the election administration body from two thirds to a majority of its full composition.

The veto will be overridden because the decision we made was thoughtful and fair. Our election code is of international, of the highest, standard - even a little higher - so everything is in order in this regard”, Kadagishvili said.

The official further questioned Zourabichvili’s “ability to present legal arguments” over her veto.
