The Parliament of Georgia on Thursday endorsed an air traffic agreement between the governments of Georgia and Oman, the legislative body said on Thursday.

Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy of Georgia, said the agreement incorporated “main principles” of the Convention on International Civil Aviation and regulated flight safety and airline security.

The Deputy Minister said the agreement also provided a preferential regime for air carriers for items or services intended or used for operation and maintenance of aircrafts of designated airlines in order to avoid double taxation.

She said airline tickets, waybills, staff uniforms, printed material bearing airlines’ logos and advertising material distributed free of charge by airlines were also exempt from taxes.

Kvrivishvili said the agreement was expected to facilitate regular air transportation between the two countries, improve service conditions, boost free competition and tourism and create a legal basis for regular flights.
