Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday highlighted the publication of a photo album showcasing “iconic” religious monuments and venues across the country.
Kobakhidze said the publication provided “complete and comprehensive information” on both historical and modern venues, and called its release a “most significant event for our public, scientific, religious and cultural life”.
This most important project has a high value, and at the same time, it is a visible expression of the most important tradition of our country - religious tolerance, culture of coexistence”, he said.
It is also of particular importance that the album was created in joint efforts of various religious denominations, religious associations and clergies, which is an extraordinary manifestation and example of interdenominational cooperation”, the Government head added.
The album also features information on followers of religious organisations throughout the country according to the general population census.
The presentation event also featured members of the Georgian Parliament, the country’s Government, diplomatic corps and religious organisations.
Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Zaza Vashakmadze, the Chair of the State Agency for Religious Issues, and a representative of the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia’s Orthodox Christian Church also addressed the event.
