Strategic partnership and cooperation between Georgia and Turkey were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani and his Turkish counterpart Yaşar Güler.
The visiting Georgian Minister extended his gratitude to Turkey for its “continued political and practical support”, the Georgian Defence Ministry said.
The officials emphasised the importance of the strategic partnership and high-level meetings, while discussing the cooperation in trilateral and bilateral formats.
Chikovani reiterated his readiness to host a defence ministerial between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey this year.
The meeting also highlighted cooperation in military education, financial, material and technical assistance and joint participation in international military drills.
The meeting noted Turkey's “substantial contribution” to the implementation of initiatives of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package.
