Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday condemned the attack on Slovak PM Robert Fico, who had been shot multiple times on Wednesday after a government meeting in Handlova.

At a joint press briefing of the Georgian PM and the Turkish President, Kobakhidze wished Fico “a speedy recovery”, while Erdoğan expressed hope that the Slovak PM and people would “overcome this problem very soon”.

According to the media reports, after the assassination attempt, Fico received multiple wounds and is in “a stable but serious condition”.

The Slovakian PM’s alleged assailant was detained by the police at the scene of the shooting.
