Georgian PM: “Global War Party” has “critical influence on official structures” in US, EU

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday claimed the “Global War Party”, a reference used by Government officials to describe the United National Movement opposition and its foreign partners, had a “decisive and critical influence on official structures” in the United States and European Union.

Kobakhidze said he hoped the situation would “change qualitatively, and both the US and the EU will be freed from the influence” of the alleged political force.

It is especially easy to gain influence on the official structures of the European Union, due to the fact that decisions in the European Union are essentially made by full consensus of 27 countries - therefore, it is enough for the Global War Party to influence even one country, and it already determines decisions that are in its interests”, he alleged.

I will repeat once again it will be difficult for me to specify - although the scale of the influences is very high - that they have a serious influence on the official structures both in one and the other direction. We are talking about the US and the EU”, the Government head added.

The official claimed “neither the Maidan Uprising [the protests in Kyiv in 2013-2014 that resulted in the Maidan Revolution in Ukraine], nor Ukrainisation” of Georgia could not take place as Georgia was a “sovereign state and not [former President] Viktor Yanukovych's Ukraine”.

The PM said the domestic “political minority of radical opposition”, which he said was “absolutely discredited”, had “no resources for revolution”, and added the “general image of the opposition is zero coordination and complete discreditation, so the Ukrainian scenario will not take place in Georgia”.
