Georgian Agriculture Minister Otar Shamugia on Saturday said his Ministry’s “main task” was to help farmers and entrepreneurs have access to the “priority” market of the European Union.
In his comments on the Europe Day event in Tbilisi, Shamugia noted the EU market was the “priority” for the country and pointed out “specific results” in this direction “that are reflected in particular numbers”.
We are working on the implementation of the standards and the introduction of the regulations that are necessary to establish ourselves in this [EU] market”, the Minister added.
He stressed that this year Georgia was celebrating Europe Day as the membership candidate country, after obtaining the status last year, and highlighted European integration as the “main component” of Georgian politics.
The Europe Day event was hosted at the Expo Georgia fairgrounds, with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and representatives of the country’s executive branch, as well as the EU Ambassador to Georgia Paweł Herczyński and the diplomatic corps, attending the celebration.
