The Special Investigation Service on Saturday said it had launched an investigation into the violence against a citizen by the law enforcement officers last night on Leonidze Street in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.
The Service noted “all necessary” investigative and procedural actions would be conducted to ensure “an objective investigation”.
In its turn, the Interior Ministry responded to the incident on Leonidze Street and said the drunk driver of one of the vehicles had hindered the movement of the bus of the Special Tasks Department for an operational task, despite “multiple requests”, which resulted in “a confrontation between them [the driver and his companions] and the law enforcement officers”.
