Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Thursday marked the annual Europe Day by expressing his belief the country would “soon join the [European Union] formed by a unity of values”.
In his social media message, Papuashvili said the EU united 27 countries to “ensure peace and well-being of the European people”.
“Happy Europe Day! I believe that Georgia will soon join the union formed by the unity of values, where each country with its identity and historical experience will contribute to ensuring the peace and progress of Europe”, the lawmaker said.
The Parliament official also stressed the “unity of Europe” was “based on the union of sovereign countries” and “free states that will have the power to defeat evil”.
