Masatsugu Asakawa, the President of the Asian Development Bank, on Monday thanked the Government and people of Georgia for their “warm hospitality” during the 57th annual meeting of the Bank in Tbilisi.

He also extended “heartfelt thanks to all meeting delegates and participants for their invaluable contributions to our meaningful dialogue” in his social media message.

The ADB President named the $5 billion replenishment for the Asian Development Fund to support the region’s “poorest and most vulnerable” countries among the highlights of the four-day event.

Asakawa said this year’s theme - “Bridge to the Future” - steered discussions on building a “sustainable, inclusive” Asia and the Pacific.

We explored pressing global issues such as green globalisation, extreme heat, and AI's transformative potential in healthcare and agriculture [...] Looking forward to continuing these vital conversations in Milan, Italy, at next year’s ADB annual meeting”, he said.

The annual meeting in Tbilisi hosted nearly 70 events - covering a diverse range of topics including connectivity, climate change, capital market development, artificial intelligence, and green globalisation - and 3,000 delegates between Thursday and Sunday.
