The joint project of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia and the World Intellectual Property Organisation, Project on Collective Management, Branding and Commercialisation of Selected Registered GI in Georgia, aimed to support the farmers, associations and entrepreneurs who produce unique Georgian products marked with geographical indications and appellations of origin, was completed.
Within the one-year project, the registered geographical indication Tushetian Guda cheese was selected, on which training sessions, various meetings and discussions were delivered for producers, to strengthen their capabilities and develop marketing skills.
The entrepreneurs got acquainted with the product management aspects, branding and commercialisation issues and the necessary approaches for the advertising campaign, the Georgian Intellectual body, also known as Sakpatenti, said.
The closing event of the project on Tuesday included addresses by Sakpatenti Chair Soso Giorgadze, Gela Samkharauli, Chair of the Agrarian Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Apollon Kakabadze, Deputy Agriculture Minister and Alexandra Bhattacharya, the Project Manager and the representative of the WIPO.
Yaning Zhang, an advisor of the project team and Pascal Bernardoni, an international expert summarised the project outcomes at the event, which was attended by representatives of the Government and state agencies and WIPO.
The event also included a panel discussion, information stand, cooking masterclass, presentations of project video and a journal of the appellations of origin and geographical indications of Georgia, registered at Sakpatenti.
