Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri and Joachim Stamp, Germany’s Federal Government Special Commissioner for Migration Agreements, on Tuesday discussed the existing ties.
The sides highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation in combating illegal migration and labour migration, the Interior Ministry said.
Gomelauri emphasised that Germany’s decision to include Georgia in the list of safe countries of origin last year was “a validation of Georgia’s democratic governance” and affirmed the “effective protection” of human rights by the country's state institutions.
Stamp “positively assessed” the successful law enforcement cooperation between the two countries and expressed readiness to expand existing collaborative relations in different directions.
The German official thanked the Georgian side for their hospitality and expressed hope to enhance future cooperation through joint efforts.
