Seven Georgian wine producing companies participated in Real Wine Fair hosted in London between Sunday and Monday with the support of the National Wine Agency of Georgia, the body said on Monday.
Considered one of the most important wine tasting events celebrating artisan growers who work with minimal intervention in vineyards and wineries, the Fair featured renowned winemakers, importers, media and sommeliers.
The representation made an “important opportunity” for companies from Georgia who store wines in qvevri buried clay vessels to find new trade partners, promote products and increase exports, the Agency said.
This year's Fair saw the participation of natural wine producers from 20 countries worldwide, including Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, the United States and Germany.
The Agency said the United Kingdom was a “strategic export market” for Georgian wine, with the body “actively implementing various marketing measures” to promote the product.
Exports of Georgian wine to 47 countries of the world amounted to 16.7 million litres between January and February, totalling $47.6 million, the country’s National Wine Agency announced on Tuesday.
Buyers from France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom have visited about 20 Georgian enterprises as part of a programme that supports establishment of export market connections and is implemented by the Enterprise Georgia, the state agency promoting entrepreneurship, investment and exports.
Two Georgian wine producing companies and 25 family wineries participated in Vinitaly and Orange Wine Festival exhibitions in the Italian city of Verona this week with the support of the Georgian National Wine Agency, the body said on Thursday.
The Georgian National Wine Agency on Friday said Georgian wine was gaining popularity in the Asian market, highlighting the ongoing showcase of 16 wines from the country at Foodex Japan, an annual international food and beverage exhibition in Tokyo.
