Levan Izoria, the Georgian Ambassador to Germany, on Friday highlighted Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s ongoing visit to Berlin by saying it would give a “new impetus” to bilateral relations.
In his remarks over the visit, Izoria noted Kobakhidze would have the opportunity to meet the German Chancellor, President and the President of the Bundestag.
Germany has emerged in recent years as a leading country supporting Georgia on its European Union integration path, and this visit will be an additional opportunity to strengthen this support”, Izoria said.
The Georgian diplomat reviewed topics of discussion between Kobakhidze and the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, which include reforms carried out by the Georgian Government on the European Union integration path and the nine priorities outlined by the European Commission for the opening accession talks, which he said were “being successfully implemented”.
“I am sure that within the framework of this visit, additional impetus will be created to strengthen bilateral relations, including in terms of economic relations”, Izoria continued.
He also noted the Georgia-Germany Economic Forum, set to be hosted next week, and further pointed out that “a wide range of cooperation will be discussed both from a geostrategic point of view and from the point of view of common challenges in the region”.
He expressed his expectations for the relations between the two nations to be taken to a “new high level”.
