Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday said he expected that Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to Germany would “give new impetus to and further deepen and strengthen” the existing bilateral cooperation with the country.

Darchiashvili highlighted Germany as “one of the prominent and strong supporters” of Georgia “in many directions, including European integration”, and pointed out it was “significant and symbolic” that Kobakhidze arrived in Germany as part of his first official visit to the European Union member states.

The Georgian PM will hold “important meetings at the highest level”, including with “a strong supporter of Georgia’s European integration” - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the FM noted.

The Georgian delegation, led by Kobakhidze, includes Darchiashvili, Irakli Chikovani, the Vice Prime Minister and Defence Minister and Levan Zhorzholiani, the Head of the Government Administration.
