Archil Talakvadze, the Vice Parliament Speaker of Georgia, on Thursday said the Government did not authorise the country’s President Salome Zourabichvili’s visit to Lithuania, since her “statements, made several times during her international visits, contradict Georgia’s foreign policy”.
Talakvadze’s comments followed the announcement by the Government Administration earlier today, in which the body said the Government had refused Zourabichvili’s working visit to Lithuania from April 10 to April 12.
The Vice Parliament Speaker noted that Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s decision to reject the President’s request for the visit was “in full compliance” with the law and the country’s Constitution, stressing “there is nothing sensational and controversial [in this decision]”.
