Georgian para powerlifting team have successfully competed at the Sharm El Sheikh 2024 World Cup, with Iago Gorgodze claiming a gold medal and Maka Kvinchia a silver medal at the tournament hosted in an Egyptian resort town.
Gorgodze brought the first gold medal to the Georgian national team at the World Cup 2024 by overcoming all three attempts and lifting 560 kg in total.
In the 73 kg category of the tournament, Kvinchia successfully lifted a total of 282 kg in three attempts, winning second place in her weight category.
Shota Omarashvili, another Georgian athlete in the para powerlifting team, won a bronze medal at the World Cup on Friday.
