Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Monday said the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s ongoing visit to the country would add “significant new momentum” to the country’s ties with the bloc.

In his remarks over the visit, Darchiashvili noted the dynamics were developing “at the highest level” in bilateral relations with the alliance.

“Georgia is an important and valuable partner of NATO in the region. The Government of Georgia continues close cooperation and coordination with NATO partners in both individual and bilateral formats, including in implementing reforms in Georgia”, he said.

“Euro-Atlantic integration is the constitutional norm and the main priority and cornerstone of Georgia's foreign policy, and accordingly, this dynamic continues”, the official also noted.

The Minister also focused on NATO's “unequivocal support” for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and noted the country was “grateful” to the alliance and personally to Stoltenberg, who he said “always stands out with important statements in support of our country”.
