Georgian foreign office in contact with Mexican immigration service to locate Georgian citizens

The Georgian foreign office on Saturday said it was in contact with the Mexican immigration service and was investigating the possible whereabouts of Georgian citizens, who allegedly had been kidnapped by a criminal group near the United States-Mexico border.

The state body told the Public Broadcaster that the Georgian Embassy in Mexico was in contact with the family members of the kidnapped individuals, whose whereabouts the Georgian side was trying to determine.

According to the media reports, three days ago, a criminal group kidnapped 30 Georgian citizens, together with citizens of other countries, who were trying to illegally reach the US border through Mexico.
