Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday said there has been a political decision to arrange direct flights with Switzerland and noted negotiations with relevant companies were underway.

Papuashvili emphasised that he had discussed the initiative of launching the direct flights with the Swiss officials, at the meetings held within the framework of his visit to the country, and stressed this decision would “enhance accessibility and intensify bilateral exchanges [between the countries], benefiting citizens of both nations”.

He highlighted the Georgian parliamentary delegation’s meetings with Eva Herzog, the President of the Council of States of Switzerland, Eric Nussbaumer, the President of the National Council of Switzerland and Patricia Danzi, the Director General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

We talked about the relations between the legislative bodies [...] about the challenges that exist in Georgia, [and] the country’s response to challenges in the region, especially in the last two years”, the Parliament Speaker said.
