Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and his accompanying delegation, on Wednesday reviewed cooperation with Switzerland in meetings held within the framework of the visit to the country, the Parliament press office said.
The Georgian delegation was hosted by Eva Herzog, the President of the Council of States of Switzerland at the official dinner, where the sides “positively assessed” the “years-old cooperation” between the countries.
Papuashvili highlighted the importance of Switzerland’s support for Georgia’s territorial integrity, policy of peaceful resolution of conflicts on the country’s territory, as well as the democratic and socio-economic development of Georgia.
The priority directions of bilateral cooperation and the ties between the legislative bodies of the two countries were emphasised by the parties, who also discussed international security challenges and the plans of Georgia for European Union integration.
The projects implemented in Georgia and prospects of future cooperation were reviewed at the meeting between Papuashvili and Patricia Danzi, the Director General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
The conversation touched on the “geopolitical shifts” unfolding in the Black Sea and the South Caucasus regions, with the officials discussing Georgia’s EU integration and the democratic reforms undertaken in the country.
Danzi affirmed that Georgia would remain “one of the priority” countries for the activities of Switzerland.
