Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Anders Adlercreutz, the Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering of Finland, on Wednesday reviewed the existing cooperation and prospects of deepening ties in various fields, as well as Georgia’s European Union integration.
The agenda of Georgia-EU relations and the progress achieved by the country on the European integration path were discussed by the officials, who highlighted the “historical importance” of granting the country EU membership candidate status in December, 2023.
Darchiashvili noted that the Georgian Government continued to “work actively” to take the country to the next stage of EU integration, opening accession talks with the bloc, and expressed hope that Georgia’s progress and “ambitions reforms”, implemented in various directions, would be “properly recognised and appreciated” by the European partners.
The Georgian FM thanked the Finnish Minister for his “strong support” for Georgia’s European integration, and once again confirmed the readiness of the country’s authorities to “further progress” on the path of joining the EU.
