Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and the Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday said “maintaining peace” and economic development in the country was “fundamentally important” for ensuring “every citizen can feel prosperity”.
“We can recall statements made [...] [on] the [alleged opposition calls for Georgia to open a] second front [amid Russia’s war in Ukraine]. Statements were made by specific radicals who today are represented as political parties”, Kaladze said.
In the difficult geopolitical situation that is happening in the region, [and] in the world, it is fundamentally important to maintain peace [and] economic development in the country, so that every citizen can feel prosperity”, he concluded.
A session of the Congress of the ruling Georgian Dream party on Thursday elected Irakli Garibashvili, the country’s Prime Minister who announced his resignation on Monday, as the party’s new Chair, while nominating incumbent GD Char Irakli Kobakhidze as his replacement.
