Commercial banks in Georgia loaned ₾52.65 billion ($19.76bln) and received deposits of ₾50.60 billion ($18.99bln) in December, the latest data from the National Bank of Georgia shows.
The volume of loans increased by 2.86 percent compared to the previous month, while the number of deposits also increased by 0.36 percent month-on-month.
Last month, the volume of term deposits decreased by 3.34 percent, while on-demand deposits increased by 2.80 percent, the NBG also said.
As for the volume of loans in national currency, the amount increased by.35 percent, with the volume of loans in foreign currency also increasing by 2.27 percent.
