Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili on Wednesday said the Chinese delegation, under the leadership of its Prime Minister, was represented “at a highest level” at the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos.

Davitashvili said China's participation in the Forum emphasised the world needed more cooperation with the country to “overcome global challenges”, and noted it was the first Forum since the pandemic with a “major” Chinese representation.

He noted the importance of the Forum as a leading platform where business and political leaders meet to assess the status of the current state in the world, and added the event played a “very important role” in determining the international agenda, “where the trends intersect”.

The official said there were “many opportunities” in the world that countries could “only take advantage of through cooperation”, adding Georgia was following the approach and noting the country’s Government had “correctly assessed” the situation when it began discussing “very promising” economic cooperation with China.

The Minister added “leading business and political leaders” from other states were also discussing “great opportunities for cooperation” with China.
