Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Thursday said his Government would “spare no effort” to ensure that the country is “both a reliable partner and a bridge” between Europe and Asia.
Darchiashvili noted a panel discussion with the participation of the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos would focus mainly on the regional topic of how to connect the two parts of the world.
Georgia is most important from a geographical point of view. Georgia, as a country with the European Union membership candidate status, should be efficient in order to develop these ties”, Darchiashvili said.
“In the future, we will spare no effort to ensure that Georgia is on the one hand a reliable partner, as before, and on the other hand, a bridge, a connection between two continents”, he concluded.
The top Georgian diplomat also highlighted the importance of the Middle Corridor, a logistics route connecting Central Asia and China to Europe via the South Caucasus.
