Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chair of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Saturday said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili had received the recommendations from the Council of Europe's Venice Commission on the deoligarchisation bill and judicial reform, which did not include any “substantial changes” to the draft law.
In his interview with the Public Broadcaster, Kobakhidze noted the Commission’s assessments of the draft laws [related to one of the European Union conditions for granting Georgia the membership candidate status] would be taken into account.
Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova sent “absolutely identical” draft laws to the Commission and the recommendations have also been “identical”, the GD official said, adding the notes on the bill were of a “technical” nature, which would be approved by the Parliament shortly.
The Venice Commission’s recommendations will be officially published on Monday, the Public Broadcaster said.
