Kakha Kaladze, the mayor of Tbilisi and the secretary general of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Tuesday said the Georgian government would “do everything” to ensure implementation of European Union conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status.
The comments follow the statement by Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Georgian Dream executive secretary, who on Monday said the ruling team had decided to forward the domestic bill on deoligarchisation - related to one of the EU recommendations - to the European Commission for comments.
I welcome this decision. As for the bill [itself], we have repeatedly said that the government would do everything to implement the 12-point [EU priorities]. One of its parts is the law on deoligarchisation, and this too will be adopted”, Kaladze said.
