The cost of construction index across Georgia decreased by 5.2 percent in January compared to the preceding month, the National Statistics Office of Georgia said on Thursday. 

The statistics body said the change had been mainly caused by the 23.4 percent decrease in the average monthly nominal salary of employees in the industry, which caused a 4.8 percent reduction in the total index.

The index increased by 5.7 percent compared to February 2022, influenced by a 4.8 percent increase in the prices of construction materials, which contributed a 2.73 percentage change to the total figure, the update also said.
