Georgian police officers have arrested five individuals who have been charged with illegal deprivation of liberty and robbery of sheep in the eastern Kakheti region, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.
The state body said three out of the four offenders had robbed a farm owner of 600 sheep after issuing threats to them.
The case also involved illegal deprivation of liberty of shepherds in the locality, in which two other individuals conspired to illegally seize 1,068 sheep from them.
One of the two offenders in the latter case has been apprehended, while a search is ongoing for the other, the Ministry added.
Law enforcement seized an AK-74 automatic rifle and a Nagant pistol, along with ammunition, during a related search operation.
The crimes are punishable by four to 11 years in prison.
