Georgian PM, new Ambassador to Hungary review prospects for closer ties

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday discussed his Government’s existing cooperation with Hungary and prospects for a further strengthening of ties with the newly appointed Georgian Ambassador Tamar Liluashvili.
In a meeting at the Government office, the officials discussed the cooperation and the work for Georgia’s new representative in Hungary, the Government Administration said.
Liluashvili previously served as Ambassador to Bulgaria, and also worked as Investment Advisor in Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and as the Executive Director of the Georgian National Investment Agency.
Between 2001-2007, she also served as the Director of Operations and Community Relations Manager in the United States Southern Center for International Studies.
Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán on Friday said not granting Georgia the European Union membership candidate status in June had been an “unacceptable and immoral” decision by European Union authorities.
Georgian and Hungarian prime ministers on Thursday signed a declaration on strategic partnership between their countries in Budapest, saying the document would “further strengthen” their “strong bilateral cooperation”.
Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán on Thursday said the European Council’s decision to not include Georgia in its granting of membership candidate status to Moldova and Ukraine in June was “discriminatory”.
Georgian and Hungarian prime ministers on Wednesday discussed the “positive dynamic" in "friendly relations” between their counties and prospects to further strengthen cooperation at a dinner hosted by Viktor Orbán in honour of Irakli Garibashvili, the Georgian government administration said.
