Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday congratulated those celebrating Christmas on December 25 by wishing them “peace, happiness and prosperity”.
I congratulate all our fellow citizens who celebrate this great holiday today on the Saviour's birth. May this day bring peace, happiness and prosperity to you and your families”, Garibashvili said in his message.
The annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ is observed primarily on December 25 by the Western Churches and Eastern Orthodox churches that use the Revised Julian Calendar.
The Georgian Orthodox church follows the Old Julian Calendar and celebrates Christmas on January 7.
