The weekly meeting of the Government of Georgia on Tuesday discussed eight topics, the Administration of the Government said.

The meeting was led by the Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili.

The Prime Minister on Monday presented his end-of-year summary of the Government's work by contrasting the growth in indicators across sectors over the past 11 years which was praised as "very impressive" by Georgian authorities.

Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili said the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area deal of the Association Agreement - signed between the country and the European Union in 2014 - would be renewed after Georgia was granted the bloc’s membership candidate status last week.

Speaking at a press briefing, Davitashvili said the Government would “proactively undertake additional obligations” to speed up reforms “in a certain direction”.

He said in addition to updating the DCFTA deal, the reforms also concerned the nine priorities set out by the European Commission for opening EU accession talks with Georgia.
