Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Guram Guramishvili on Tuesday highlighted the country’s role in the development of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia, an initiative involving the European Union and states of Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia.
Guramishvili told a meeting of the TRACECA National Secretary in Tbilisi his Government was making “significant” investments for developing the transport and logistics infrastructure of the country.
The Deputy Minister also noted the Anaklia deep sea port project, earmarked for the Black Sea coastline town and designed to serve cargo passing through the corridor for intensification of traffic flows between the West and the East.
The Ministry of Economy said officials of TRACECA member countries discussed a “number of issues” on the agenda, including the state of implementation of the TRACECA 2022-2026 action plan and future steps.
Georgia is the Chair of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission this year.
