Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Saturday commemorated the victims of Holodomor, the Ukrainian famine that took place in Ukraine between 1932 and 1933 following agricultural policies introduced under Joseph Stalin's Soviet regime.
In her social media post, Zourabichvili said she was “standing in solidarity” with Ukraine and honouring the victims of the “Soviet regime of terror”.

After 90 years, resistance to oppressive practices remains our common duty, ensuring that history will not repeat itself
On the 90th anniversary of Holodomor, the Georgian President stressed that “resistance to oppressive practices” remained the common duty to ensure “the history will not repeat itself”.
The Holodomor, which translates from Ukrainian as ‘death by hunger’, killed millions of Ukrainians and was part of the wider Soviet famine, which affected the major grain-producing areas of the Soviet Union.
