Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Friday said the world was “in need of peace-making and peace-loving leadership”, which he said would ensure stability and prosperity to the people, in press comments following the Paris Peace Forum panel discussion.
The PM said in his comments at the panel titled Insights on Cooperation in a world of rivalry : Crafting Peace and Building a Safer World – The case of Caucasus, he had raised his Government's “successful efforts” over the past 10 years to ensure the country’s “economic and political advancement” through maintaining peace and stability.
Praising the Georgian Dream Government's “consistent and reasonable” policy, the PM stressed its stance had strengthened domestic peace and stability, which, for its part, led to “existing achievements”.
He noted the achievements included the 2014 European Union-Georgia Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area deal, visa free and free trade agreements with the bloc and the European Commission’s latest positive recommendation this week to the Council to grant Tbilisi the EU candidate status in December, as well as “tripled domestic economy” from ₾27 billion ($10 bln) to ₾85 billion ($31 bln ) over the past 10 years.
Hailing the importance of the ongoing forum, Garibashvili said it was “crucial” world leaders to convey “convincing and hopeful messages” and “concrete steps” at such events to resolve conflicts.
