Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Wednesday said in a social media message she welcomed the “positive” recommendation of the European Commission to grant Georgia the European Union membership candidate status.
Zourabichvili said she would continue “more than ever” to play her role as a “pro-European leader” to push the “still needed” reforms in the country.

The Commission on Wednesday issued its recommendation for the European Council to grant Georgia the status.
Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the Commission, said the country must receive the status as “steps have really been taken” for the outcome.
