Genadi Arveladze and Irakli Nadareishvili, Georgia’s deputy economy ministers, on Monday discussed prospects of deepening economic ties with South Korea in a meeting with Jun-Ho Lee, the Vice Chairman of Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea.

The two officials were hosted for the meeting during their visit to Seoul, with the discussion emphasising the importance of starting negotiations on a free trade agreement between the two states - scheduled to launch in February - as well as on “timely” completion of ongoing talks on a bilateral investment agreement.

It was noted that the signing of both agreements would be an “important push” for increasing trade and investments between the countries, deepening sectoral cooperation and strengthening partnership relations between business circles.

The Ministry of Economy said the parties agreed to continue “active” communication to provide Korean medium-sized companies with information about “specific investment projects” planned in Georgia, and also to organise the visit of FOMEK member companies to Georgia.
