Georgian Deputy Economy Minister, Korean official for International Economic Affairs discuss bilateral cooperation

The bilateral economic cooperation between Georgia and Korea was discussed by Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Genadi Arveladze and Sarah Ahn, Korean Director-General for International Economic Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, the Economy Ministry said on Friday.

At the meeting, held as part of Arveladze’s visit to South Korea, the officials expressed their readiness to further intensify relations and emphasised the successful completion of preparatory work for the negotiations on the Georgia-Korea Economic Partnership Agreement.

Earlier that day Arveladze, together with Korean Trade Minister Dukgeun Ahn signed a joint statement on the initiation of negotiations on Agreement, which implies the liberalisation of trade in goods and services between the two countries, as well as the deepening of sectoral cooperation in various directions, the Ministry noted.

The conversation also touched on holding the next round of ongoing negotiations on the Georgia-Korea Intergovernmental Economic Commission, with the sides agreeing to hold a meeting in Georgia in the first half of 2024 on the bilateral investment agreement.
