Dritan Abazović, the Prime Minister of Montenegro, on Thursday said Georgia was a “role model” for his Government's tourism policy, hailing the county’s “very good results and tourism marketing” in his address at the ongoing Tbilisi Silk Road Forum

Speaking about Montenegro’s economy, the visiting official said the International Monetary Fund had predicted a “record high” 4.9 percent growth for this year, and said the country would be ahead of Germany, France and Italy with the figure, but noted the “maintenance of the achievement” would be “complicated” for years to come.

Voicing his Government's approach “to talk less about the past and more about the future”, Abazović said Montenegro was taking actions to develop road infrastructure, facilitate implementation of connectivity projects and invest in digital technology including artificial intelligence.

Highlighting the importance of “peace and peaceful resolution of conflicts”, the official claimed joint connectivity projects could benefit countries and prevent threats of hostility.

Abazović opened the Forum along with Georgian, Armenian and Azerbaijani counterparts and the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank early on Thursday, before expressing his hope that  “after some time, Montenegro will also be able to host such a [large-scale] event”.
