Georgian Agriculture Minister Otar Shamugia on Monday said up to 150 new meteorological and hydrological monitoring stations would be set up across Georgia over the next year.
The Minister said 170 stations were already operating in the country, adding the new effort would aim to help monitor “risk zones”.
We have plans for the next year to implement specific measures with state and budget funding, which will further accelerate the processes to assess all risk zones. We have more than 22 glaciers where these [weather] processes can be assessed”, Shamugia said.
The official added professionals from Switzerland and Germany would be involved in the work.
